Burglar walks away with HK$320,000 from Sai Kung village house

A video clip showing how a man managed to steal about HK$320,000 worth of valuables in the space of 20 minutes at a village house in Sai Kung has gone viral on social media, Headline Daily reported on Wednesday.

As shown in the footage captured by a CCTV system, the suspect was in his 30′s, wearing a dark-color vest and light-color shorts.

He was filmed carrying a lit cigarette as he strolled in Ho Chung New Village at 7:36 p.m. on Saturday. He was seen casually looking around, apparently searching for targets.

At 7:55 p.m., the same man was caught by the camera leaving the village with a full backpack.

At 8:53 p.m., police received a report from the owner of a three-story home, saying the place had been burglarized.

About HK$40,000 in cash and HK$280,000 worth of jewelries and watches were stolen.

A local resident said he was shocked at the theft as police officers regularly patrol the village.

Another villager complained that the neighborhood had become too crowded, making it difficult for villagers to differentiate between strangers and residents.
