Two German tourists robbed outside Chungking Mansions

Two German tourists were robbed by a gang of four men near Chungking Mansions in Tsim Sha Tsui, Apple Daily reported Tuesday.

Von, 28, and Marc, 29, took a taxi from Lan Kwai Fong in Central at dawn Monday to their hostel near Chungking Mansions.

Police said the two friends were assaulted outside the building in Nathan Road by four men, reportedly of South Asian origin.

The victims were punched and kicked and injured on their faces and arms.

The attackers took their wallets, mobile phones, HK$300 in cash, passports, air tickets and a bag of shirts.

Hung Chiu-wah, a member of the Tsim Sha Tsui West district council, said it was an unfortunate incident and he was concerned that the robbery may affect the image of Hong Kong.

He called for police to take action against the criminals.
