Shenzhen eye hospital offers help to Jilin boy in grisly attack

A Shenzhen eye hospital is offering help to a 12-year-boy from Jilin province who lost his eyesight after a horrific attack by a fellow villager who later committed suicide.

Xiao Shuo narrowly escaped death by pretending to be dead as the attacker continued to pounce with a broken beer bottle and a knife.

The attacker killed herself hours later by drinking pesticide, according to the official People’s Daily.

Xiao suffered serious injuries to his eyes, chest, abdomen and arms that required multiple surgeries.

Doctors had to remove his right eyeball to prevent infection but a damaged optic nerve in his left eye left him blind.

C-MER (Shenzhen) Dennis Lam Eye Hospital has offered to help Xiao and has asked for a report from his doctors.

Experts in the specialist facility said Xiao could regain his vision with an artificial eye implanted electronically.

The procedure is similar to restoring the sense of taste to a damaged tongue, they said.
