Cat found wrapped with duct tape in new animal abuse case

Another animal abuse case has come to light in Hong Kong, this time involving a cat.

Late Monday, an animal rights volunteer found a small cat inside an abandoned cage in the Sheung Shui area.

To his great shock, the volunteer discovered that the animal was wrapped tightly around its belly with duct tape. The tape was bound so tight that the poor creature had suffered blood and fur loss.

Suspecting it to be a case of intentional animal cruelty, the volunteer, a person surnamed Tong, alerted the police, Ming Pao Daily reported.

Authorities are investigating the matter. No one has been arrested yet.

The cat, meanwhile, has been handed over to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

According to the SPCA, the cat is a female, aged around one. A vet is trying to arrest the bleeding, only after which the wounds can be cleaned and sterilized.
