LeTV has sold almost 100,000 TV set-top boxes in Hong Kong since their launch in the city last month, according to a company executive.
Mo Cuitian (莫翠天), vice president and Asia Pacific executive president at Leshi Internet Information and Technology Corp. Beijing (300104.CN), said sales have exceeded expectations.
The 100,000 figure includes realized sales as well as wholesale stock picked up by distributors.
With the distribution network to be expanded in the near future, sales will get a further boost, Hong Kong Economic Journal cited Mo as saying.
LeTV will soon start selling five models of its third-generation smart televisions in Hong Kong with high-usage subscription packages.
TV buyers will get HK$500 discount when they extend annual subscriptions for set-top boxes, which stream digital video content.
In other initiatives, the company will begin shipping its mobile phones to Hong Kong next month.
