Xi Longsheng, head of internal inspection at the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), is being questioned in connection with an investigation, a report suggests.
It is not known whether Xi is himself under scrutiny or assisting with an investigation into other people, Caixin reported, citing unidentified sources.
Xi has been “taken away”, it said, without providing details of the authorities involved, Reuters noted.
The Chinese Communist Party’s anti-graft watchdog announced on Friday that it is investigating a deputy head of the CSRC, Yao Gang, for suspected “serious breaches of discipline”.
Yao formerly oversaw public listings. He is currently responsible for supervising bonds and futures.
