Burglar strikes again with a vengeance after paltry loot

Ever wondered why thieves will be thieves? Read on.

A burglar who ended up nearly empty-handed after raiding a Tai Po restaurant on Monday, robbed another just down the road and looted it to his heart’s content.

The thief made off with a cash register, presumably with cash inside, and three computers worth HK$35,000 (US$4,515) in all, according to Headline Daily.

He entered the premises by breaking a glass window and went about his business undetected after taping over a CCTV camera inside the restaurant.

Investigators said the suspect might have been put out by a meager haul in an earlier raid on another restaurant thanks to some forward thinking by its owner who had just lost HK$3,000 to thieves in the previous month.

Since the Nov. 4 incident, the owner has made it a point to leave just HK$50 in the till.

That’s exactly what the thief got before moving to his next target.

The restaurants are located in On Chee Road and Ting Kok Road, about 200 meters from each other.

Police are looking for a male suspect between 30 and 40 with cropped hair.
