Chinese man arrested after tantrum over seating on plane

A Chinese man was arrested after making a scene when he was denied a seat upgrade on a plane, Ming Pao Daily reported Tuesday.

A video uploaded to YouTube shows the man, surnamed Lu, throwing a tantrum in the cabin before takeoff.

The pilot called police and had him arrested.

Lu boarded flight UA087 for New York in Shanghai at about 4 p.m. Sunday.

He asked for a seat upgrade. When he was refused, he helped himself to another passenger’s seat, in first class.

When cabin crew asked him to return to his assigned seat, he began to make a scene.

The pilot decided to eject him from the flight and asked police for help.

Lu struggled violently with the police, who eventually forced him to leave the plane.

Three officers suffered minor injuries.

Lu was detained for obstructing a police officer in the discharge of his duties.
