A young Thai woman living in Hong Kong was found dead at her home in Shek Kip Mei on Monday in an apparent suicide after suffering from depression and work-related stress.
The victim, who was 21 years in age, hanged herself from the ceiling in her bedroom, according to Ming Pao Daily.
Her mother called the police at around eight o’clock in the morning as she got a shock when she opened the door of her daughter’s room.
Paramedics arrived at the scene quickly but they found no pulse on the young woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim lived with her family at Mei Sang House, Shek Kip Mei estate.
She had been diagnosed with depression two years ago and has been taking medicines, as well as going for regular follow-up consultations, since that time.
The young woman supported her family by working part-time at a fast-food shop. A family member told the police that the 21-year-old was upset with some work-related issues recently.
Officers found no suicide note at the scene, but took away a round stool and a bunch of nylon rope as they gather evidence for their investigation.
A coroner is yet to officially determine the cause of the woman’s death.
