Veteran TV anchor jumps to death from Taikoo Shing home

Veteran broadcaster Kelvin Tang King-fai jumped to his death from his home in Taikoo Shing at 7:12 a.m. on Thursday.

Tang, who worked at Digital Broadcasting Corp. and was a former anchor at Asia Television, was rushed to the Eastern Hospital where he was certified death, RTHK reported.

Police are investigating the case. It is said that Tang may have suffered from some financial losses, according to Apple Daily.

Tang, 51, is survived by his wife, who is working overseas, and a son.

DBC chief executive Loh Chan said he was shocked by the incident, adding that he had no clue Tang had been depressed. 

Tang attended the company’s Christmas party on Wednesday.

Media workers who worked with Tang also expressed shock and sadness over the incident.

He entered the media industry in 1988. Tang had also performed in several stage dramas.

In recent years, he joined activities in support of press freedom in Hong Kong.
