Chinese passenger caught stealing from luggage on plane

A Chinese man was arrested for stealing from another passenger’s luggage on board a plane from Istanbul to Bangkok, Headline Daily reported Wednesday.

The man, surnamed Ma, is believed to be from Henan province.

He was observed by other passengers taking another passenger’s luggage out of an overhead compartment on a Turkish Airlines flight Monday.

Ma was arrested by Thai police upon landing in Bangkok.

He reportedly stole 5,050 euros (US$5,425) and other foreign currency.

At first, Ma denied the accusation, but he had to come clean after police obtained video recordings from other passengers showing his actions.

Thai police said all passengers should be mindful of their personal belongings and should not leave valuables in luggage in overhead compartments.
