Po Leung Kuk Tong Nai Kan Junior Secondary College (TNKJSC), an institution based in Hong Kong’s Sham Shui Po district, said it is concerned about a purported incident involving its vice-principal, and that it is conducting an investigation.
In a letter sent last Friday to parents of their wards, school authorities said that they became aware of allegations that the vice-principal was involved in a controversial love affair with a female student when he was serving earlier at the Po Leung Kuk Vicwood K. T. Chong Sixth Form College (KTC).
According to an Apple Daily report, the male vice-principal was recently transferred from KTC to TNKJSC after pictures taken of him and the student in question, and content of their online chats, surfaced on social media sites.
TNKJSC principal Wong Chung-ki said in the letter that the school was aware of the media reports and that it is looking into the matter.
The letter described the reports as “yet to be verified”, but admitted that the allegations could disturb students.
It is believed that students were summoned to the school hall Friday morning and reminded not to discuss the matter with people outside the school.
The vice-principal was alleged to have had an intimate relationship with a female student at KTC.
The vice-principal also appeared to have exercised his authority as a member of a committee under the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) to deploy classified data and help the student gauge her mathematics subject results in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education examination.
HKEAA Secretary General Tong Chong-sze confirmed on Sunday that the vice-principal has resigned from his post at HKEAA.
According to Tong, the person joined the committee only recently and he could only access information on past examinations.
Tong stressed that the information said to have been leaked was the required scores for attaining different grades in a subject examination, information which is made public later every year.
