Two men aboard a seven-seater van were scared out of their wits when the body of a man suddenly fell from the sky and crashed into the windshield of their vehicle in Wan Chai on Tuesday.
The incident happened at around 5 p.m. when the driver, surnamed Mak, and his colleague, surnamed Wong, stopped at a traffic light on the Causeway Bay-bound lane of Lockhart Road, Apple Daily reported.
All of a sudden, something smashed the van’s windshield, which turned out to be the body of a man.
Police said a 29-year-old man surnamed Li fell to his death from the 22nd floor of a building at 369 Lockhart Road, and landed on the van.
Li was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police were still trying to determine if it was a case of suicide. A jacket and a wallet probably belonging to Li were found on the rooftop.
Mak and Wong were also taken to hospital for check-up. Wong only sustained a minor injury, but firemen had to pull him out of the van as he appeared too shocked to walk by himself.
Earlier in the day, a 60-year-old man died after a granite rock smashed into the windshield of the car he was driving and hit him in the head in Cheung Sha Wan.
Mak said it never occurred to him that he would witness a similar scary incident just hours later.
