High school pupils under fire over dangerous science experiment

A group of senior students in Sha Tin have received counseling and safety education after they were found to have conducted an unauthorized science experiment that caused explosions.

According to a video clip taken a few days ago by a witness, the students from Buddhist Kok Kwong Secondary School conducted the experiment at an open ground near the school without any teacher by their side.

In the video that was widely circulated among WhatsApp users, the students were seen causing two explosions by mixing some liquids in glass bottles.

The bottles were shattered due to the blasts and there were flames as high as two meters.

Apple Daily cited a teacher as saying that the students tried the experiment after learning about some things online.

The school said it was not aware of the incident until Thursday but has arranged counseling sessions for the students involved.

The students were reminded that they should be mindful of the safety of others as well as themselves when conducting experiments.
