Man in coma after being thrown out of bus in Kowloon Bay

A 68-year-old man was in a coma after being thrown out a bus in a traffic accident in Kowloon Bay on Tuesday, Commercial Radio reported.

The man was standing next to the exit door of a route 5M bus operated by Kowloon Motor Bus, when the vehicle turned right on Shing Kai Road near Skyline Tower at around 2 p.m.

The sudden turn caused the man to be thrown off his feet, and he crashed through the vehicle’s glass door frame.

He fell on the road and was unconscious when paramedics arrived and rushed him to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kowloon.

Police said they hadn’t seen such a road accident before.

The bus, which commenced operation in 2009, was returned to the factory for a check-up.

The 45-year-old bus driver said he stopped the vehicle after he heard some passengers screaming.

The bus stopped around 20 meters away from the scene of the accident.
