Lunar New Year revenue stable at Sands China

Business at Sands China Ltd. (01928.HK) was better than expected during the first few days of the Lunar New Year, owing to a rebound in visitors to Macau, the Hong Kong Economic Journal reported Friday.

The casino firm’s gaming revenue between Sunday and Wednesday reached a level similar to that in the same period last year, when it declined from 2014, said Wilfred Wong, its president and chief operating officer.

The catering, beverage and entertainment businesses also did well, Wong said.

The number of visitors to Macau in the four days from the Lunar New Year’s eve to the third day of the new year grew 5.2 percent from the same period last year to 548,600.

Visitors from mainland China increased 6.7 percent to 389,700.

They accounted for five out of seven visitors during the period.
