Police officer gets 44 months’ jail for sex with girl, 13

A police constable who admitted having sex with a 13-year-old friend of his son’s while his wife was pregnant was handed a prison term of three years and eight months by the High Court, Apple Daily reported Tuesday.

The court heard earlier that Wong Wai-hung, 39, forced the girl, referred to as “X” in court, into having sex with him at his flat in Tin Shui Wai in March last year when she was still a virgin.

The girl told her mother in April about what had happened.

Police arrested Wong several days later at the Tin Shui Wai Police Station and found a blood-stained tissue paper inside Wong’s locker.

Wong pleaded guilty to one count of indecent assault, one of attempted intercourse with a girl under 16, and one of intercourse with a girl under 16.

He claimed he did so because his wife was pregnant with their third child at the time and could not have sex with him.

Reprimanding Wong on Monday for having brought shame upon his family and the police force, Justice Maggie Poon Man-kay said the girl had trusted Wong but he had exploited her naïveté.

She slammed Wong for having shown no regard for his moral and legal duties.

Wong served in the police force for 20 years and was promoted just last year, but his crimes have ended his career.
