Man leaves HKID behind after failing to steal porn mag

A would-be thief fled when he was caught trying to take a porn magazine from a convenience store in Yau Ma Tei early Wednesday, but in his hurry to get away, he left behind his bag containing his Hong Kong identity card.

The store’s cashier, surnamed Tang, said the man, believed to be in his 30s, looked like a drug addict, Apple Daily reports.

Tang said she kept an eye on him from the moment he entered the store on 110 Temple Street.

At the same time, she asked a customer surnamed Chan who was in the store to stand by outside in case there was a theft.

The man came to the cash register to pay HK$7 (91 US cents) for a newspaper.

Tang noticed there was a porn magazine slipped into the newspaper and asked him about it.

The man immediately turned and ran away.

That was when he was stopped by Chan outside the store.

The two men got into a tussle.

The would-be thief offered to pay for the porn magazine, but then suddenly slipped away.

Ming Pao Daily said the suspect is surnamed Wu and is 34 years old, as shown on his HKID.

Police are looking for the fugitive.
