Burglaries reported at Causeway Bay hotel, Mid-levels flat

A burglar broke into a karaoke room at a Hong Kong hotel in the early hours of Friday and made away with a 50-inch TV set and some mini bottles of wine, Apple Daily reported.

An employee at the Vela Hong Kong Causeway Bay hotel, which is located on Morrison Hill Road, found at about 1 am that the doors of a room were pried open and some things were missing.

Police were called in for an investigation, with the missing items said to be worth about HK$7,000 (US$900).

After checking footage from security cameras, police are looking for a male suspect aged about 50.

In another case, the police got a call Thursday night from a 70-year-old man who said he lost some valuables to a burglar.

The man found the door of his apartment open when he returned home at around 10.15 pm.

He told the police that the burglar took away cash, jewelry and watches estimated to be worth about HK$140,000 in total, according to Apple Daily.

The burglary took place at Conway Mansion on Conduit Road in Mid-levels West.
