South Korea is imposing its own sanctions on North Korean entities and individuals over Pyongyang’s weapons program.
Also, it will ban vessels that have stopped at North Korean ports in the past 180 days.
The unilateral sanctions on 40 individuals and 30 entities are on top of a recent UN Security Council resolution punishing the North for its fourth nuclear test and a long-range rocket launch last month.
The sanctioned individuals include a Singaporean and a Taiwanese national, Reuters reports.
South Korea will also withdraw from a pilot project that brought Russian coal to South Korea through a North Korean port, Rajin, a foreign ministry spokesman said.
