Baby falls from 5th floor, saved by quilts held by neighbors

A one-year-old boy escaped injury when he fell off a fifth-floor balcony, after neighbors held quilts to break his fall, news portal Sina.com.cn reported.

The heart-stopping incident took place in Huangjiang town in Dongguan, Guangdong province Tuesday afternoon.

When a neighbor heard loud crying, she went out and saw the boy perched on the balcony railing, with one leg hanging over it.

Without hesitation, she returned home and grabbed a quilt with which she planned to catch the boy.

Other neighbors whom she alerted did the same.

The boy finally fell off, but the quilts saved his life.

Local police are planning to give those neighbors awards for what they did.

The boy’s grandmother said she was grateful to the neighbors.

She said she had taken the boy out onto the balcony to play, but he pushed her back into the flat and closed the door to the balcony.
