Heartbreaking photo of injured dog melts social media

A dog found curled up and bleeding under a staircase in a Tuen Mun playground is getting a lot of love on social media, with netizens offering to pay for its treatment and sending words of encouragement.

The dog, a female mongrel, was hit by a truck in Tuen Mun Road Sunday afternoon, leaving it severely injured, Apple Daily reports.

A passerby saw the dog limp to San Wo Lane Playground where it lay on a bench under a staircase smudged with bloodstains.

Rescuers later found it bleeding from the mouth and motionless.

“It was so weak. It was conscious but couldn’t move,” one of them said.

They put a blanket on the dog and told it to be strong, he said.

Photos of the dog and its sad story went viral on the internet, breaking hearts and inspiring pet lovers into action.

Some offered to pay for its hospitalization while others sent well wishes.

The Society for the Prevention and Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) sent volunteers to the scene after receiving a report from the police, according to a spokesman.

SPCA said it found the dog’s owner through a chip implant and received permission to administer emergency treatment on the animal.
