Zhejiang woman becomes internet star over plum blossoms pictures

A 27-year-old office secretary in Shaoxing in eastern China’s Zhejiang province became an overnight celebrity after she funded a photoshoot and volunteered to become a model in a pictorial to promote her county’s plum blossoms season.

Mainland netizens heaped praises on Jin Ying, who works as a secretary at a tourism promotion office of Wangtan county in Shaoxing, for the beautiful pictures.

Jin revealed that she spent about 1,000 yuan (US$154) for the Feb. 21 photo shoot as she had always aspired to be the “ambassador” of the county’s famous plum blossoms.

Jin first shared the pictures among her circle of friends on WeChat, but to her amazement the images quickly went viral with netizens eager know more about the model.

Many male netizens even expressed their desire to date her. “Unfortunately, I am already married,” Jin laughed.

While Jin was surprised by her newfound fame, she said she hoped people would pay more attention to the picturesque sceneries of Wangtan county and its famous plum blossoms.
