More arrests in bizarre concrete box murder

Two more suspects have been arrested in the bizarre killing of a man whose decomposing body was found inside a concrete slab in a Tsuen Wan industrial building earlier this week.

A 26-year-old woman, surnamed Kwok, alleged to be the victim’s girlfriend, was held on Thursday, Ming Pao Daily reports.

Also arrested was a 26-year-old man, surnamed Liu, whose personal belongings were found at the crime scene.

The arrests brought to five the number of people in police custody.

Another suspect, a tenant in the building named Ah-cheung, is at large, believed to have fled to Taiwan.

Kwok reported the victim missing on March 6 and police found his rotting body in a box of concrete two weeks later.

Investigators using footage from a security camera said the 28-year-old victim entered the building on March 4 and never came out.

He had gone to a unit to collect a debt from Ah-cheung.

The victim was probably killed inside the flat and there might have been more people involved judging by the findings, police sources said.

Kwok said she does not know any of the other suspects, aged 16 to 24.

Barrister Albert Luk said Hong Kong and Taiwan have no extradition treaty, complicating efforts to carry out Ah-cheung’s arrest.

Meanwhile, more details are emerging from the grisly find.

The killers made a wooden box from a mahjong table and stuffed the victim’s body in it before filling it with cement.

A severed hand was found at the bottom of the wooden case, investigators said.
