A 66-year-old retiree went on trial on Monday, accused by his Filipino domestic helper of raping her and threatening to kill her, news website hk01.com reports.
The man, surnamed Lee, pleaded not guilty to two counts of indecent assault and one count of rape at his flat on the 40th floor of a residential estate in March and October 2014.
The High Court heard from the prosecutor that the 48-year-old Filipino maid had been working in Hong Kong since 2003 and started working for the defendant in 2005.
Lee allegedly first molested her in March 2014, a Monday, when his wife and daughter went to work in the mainland.
When he found that she had recorded the incident with her phone, Lee told her to delete the footage and threatened to throw her out of the window if she dared to tell anyone, the court heard.
He indecently assaulted her again six months later before raping her in his room later that day. When it was over, he left her with HK$500.
After Lee left the room, the maid called the police, then took a chance to go downstairs and reported what he did to her to the police.
Lee said it was the maid who took the initiative to offer him sexual service.
The maid was set to testify in court on Tuesday.
