Kee Wah seeks to boost bridal gift voucher sales with new range

Kee Wah Bakery chain is trying to boost sales of bridal gift vouchers by offering a wider variety of the prepaid coupons.

The company will offer vouchers starting from HK$50, the Hong Kong Economic Journal reported, citing executive director Karlson Wong.

Previously, bridal gift vouchers from the bakery came with a minimum price tag of HK$68.

Managing Director Kevin Wong was quoted as saying that Kee Wah is expecting 14 percent growth in sales of wedding bakery this year compared to 2015.

The bakery chain’s sales of souvenir packages to travelers from mainland China expanded 10 percent in the first quarter, with the average sale to each tourist standing in the HK$150-200 range.

Kee Wah is cautious about expansion in the city, especially in the first-tier districts, although rents have dropped 30-40 percent from the peak level.
