How some Hong Kong motorists feel about Tesla cars

Tesla has just launched its upgraded Model S in Hong Kong, with a slightly different look and enhancements in areas like the air filtering system.

So, this may be a good time to report on what motorists say about one of the city’s most popular luxury cars.

Most of the people I talked to love the chic look of the battery-powered Model S.

Perhaps surprisingly, few mentioned environmental protection as the key driver in buying an electric car.

The Model S can travel 50 kilometers on a one-hour charge of the battery.

Most said that’s just perfect for a small city like Hong Kong.

As for ease of control and performance, most owners appear to be quite happy.

“It works like a dream when it accelerates and decelerates,” one said.

Tesla also happens to be a very popular model on car sharing platforms. That means owners can earn handsome extra money.

There are negative reviews too.

“The seats are not comfortable; they are kind of small,” a driver and car enthusiast said after trying out his friend’s Tesla.

This friend had been very satisfied with his Telsa until the air conditioning broke down.

“He was told it will take two to three months to get it fixed,” the driver said.

It wasn’t clear why it will take that long. Perhaps it’s because of a lack of parts, he said.

As Tesla keeps ramping up its production volume and upgrading its offerings, it will be interesting to see if it can woo more car lovers and at the same time iron out some of the problems reported.
