Noodles had something brown and stinky in them – it wasn’t tofu

Sitting down to a lunch of vegetarian noodles at a restaurant in Laguna City in Lam Tin, a couple discovered an unexpected, brownish ingredient in the dish, Apple Daily reported Tuesday.

The man, surnamed Ho, said he had to spit out his first bite, as it tasted awful.

He suspected someone might have put something terrible into his dish.

Ho took the noodles home and complained to the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD).

Officers from the department took away the noodles for examination.

One of the FEHD personnel reportedly said, “It really stinks”, after sniffing the dish from a close distance.

Ho recalled that the unknown, brownish substance tasted like poop and it made him want to throw up.

He called the police after restaurant staff insisted that the unknown material was black fungus, Headline Daily reported.

Ho said he couldn’t get rid of the foul smell even after downing three liters of water.

The couple were at the restaurant at around 1 p.m. on Monday.

Police confirmed that they received a report from a woman surnamed Ng, 48, alleging that foreign objects were found in a dish at a restaurant.
