Elderly flat owner, maid arrested over falling window

A dump truck driver is lucky to be alive after a window fell from a 19th-floor Homantin flat and crashed onto his vehicle.

The 74-year-old owner of the Victory Ave. apartment and a domestic helper were detained for questioning by the police, Headline Daily reports.

The driver, surnamed Choi, 28, was taken to hospital with neck injury.

Police said the Filipino maid was trying to open the window at about 9 a.m. on Wednesday when it came loose and hurtled down the building.

It landed on Choi’s truck parked near Triumphant Terrace as he was about to drive it to a construction site nearby.

The 18-year-old Triumphant Terrace building underwent mandatory inspection in March, which included checks on all doors and windows, the report said.

Last year, it figured in two incidents of falling windows.
