Cocaine worth HK$1.2 mln seized from Colombian woman

Customs officials in Hong Kong are reported to have seized 1.2 kilograms of cocaine over the weekend after arresting a Colombian woman.

The woman was nabbed as she was waiting near a bus stop at the Tuen Mun Pier Saturday night, according to Apple Daily.

The narcotics substance seized, which was found inside a hidden compartment of a suitcase, was valued at HK$1.2 million.

Authorities have detained the 53-year-old Colombian national on suspicion of drugs possession and trafficking.

She has been taken to the customs headquarters in North Point for investigation.

Officials are trying to secure information on others potentially involved in the drugs trafficking, tvb.com said.

In another case last month, customs officials arrested a 37-year-old man in the Western District and seized HK$1 million worth of crack cocaine and some narcotics-related tools from his flat.
