Police hunting hit-and-run driver in fatal Kwai Chung accident

Police are looking for the driver of a seven-seater van who fatally knocked down a motor bike driver on Tsing Kwai Highway in Kwai Chung and forced the driver of another passenger car to take him to a gas station on Tsing Yi Road to escape.

The 45-year-old motor bike driver, an airport worker surnamed Wu, was declared dead upon arrival at a hospital, news website hk01.com reports.

The incident took place at around 4 a.m. on Tuesday when the seven-seater lost control after it almost collided with a taxi near the container terminal on Tsing Kwai Highway.

The car, which was running at high speed, caught fire after hitting the motor bike on its left.

The driver of another private car stopped to offer assistance to Wu, but the driver of the seven-seater got on the back of the car and ordered him to take him to the Esso gas station on Tsing Yi Road, which is about 5.6 kilometers from the location of the accident, Apple Daily reported.

According to the driver of the private car, the man who “hijacked” his car was wearing a dark T-shirt and sports pants.

He was described as a Chinese man aged between 30 to 40 and about 1.7 meters in height.

Police found name cards of a Macau casino from the abandoned seven-seater.
