A 38-year-old male driver was killed and two other people injured in a pre-dawn car crash in Sai Kung.
The driver, surnamed Chu, was unconscious when he was pulled from the wreck of his BMW M3 saloon car, news website hk01.com reports.
He was pronounced dead shortly before 2 a.m. Monday in Tseung Kwan O Hospital.
Investigators said Chu’s car collided head-on with a Toyota seven-seater van driven by a 27-year-old male driver, surnamed Chan, near Po Toi village in Clearwater Bay.
Chan and his passenger sustained injuries.
The van appeared to have switched lanes into the oncoming BMW which was coming from the opposite direction.
Investigations are ongoing. Police are asking any witnesses to come forward.
Firemen had to break into both vehicles to get the drivers and passenger out.
Police sources said the BMW saloon was going up Tai Au Mun Road heading toward Clearwater Bay Road while the seven-seater was heading in the opposite direction toward the Hong Kong Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club.
