Students get 17 assignments ahead of typhoon holiday

Some students were inundated with homework in anticipation of an extra day off due to Typhoon Haima.

Parents are furious that some of the students were given up to 17 assignments when they should have been let off because of the bad weather, thestandnews.com reports.

One parent said even kindergartens swamped children with too much homework ahead of the long weekend.

A photo of an assignments checklist has been making the rounds on social media thanks to a viral Facebook post.

The number of assignments ranges from five to 17.

Netizens questioned why schools would need to give homework ahead of time and not just let the students take a break.

They said children tend to be busier than their elders during typhoons.

Meanwhile, some parents are encouraging their children to finish all their homework on Friday and letting them have the weekend for other activities.
