A pickpocket was caught trying to get away after a failed attempt to steal from a bus passenger.
The suspect boarded Bus 904 with two others and targeted a male passenger, surnamed Tsang, Apple Daily reports.
When the bus arrived in Western District, the passenger noticed his back pocket slashed open after he was surrounded by the three men.
Stopped in their tracks, the suspects fled the bus, with Tsang taking off after them.
He was joined by other passengers and together, they caught up with one of the men about 100 meters from the bus.
Police later arrested him.
The suspect, surnamed Ma, from Hunan province, was in Hong Kong when a series of bus robberies was reported earlier this month, police said.
Witnesses said Ma was wearing a shirt similar to that worn by a suspect in one of the robberies which was caught on a video camera, according to Ming Pao Daily.
Ma denied trying to pick Tsang’s pocket, using swear words at Tsang when earlier confronted on the bus.
