Compared to people of other body constitutions, those of a neutral body type have fewer things to worry about and a shorter list of food to avoid.
However, that doesn’t mean they can do anything and not care about their body.
To slow down skin ageing, for example, they need to be careful about their diet.
Sleeping late or not getting enough sleep, overeating and having too much cold drinks would speed up the process.
Principal skincare rules for neutral people are taking sun protection, regular skin moisturizing and nourishing, and maintaining the balance of yin and yang energies in the body.
Sun protection. Everyone should use quality sunscreen products to protect their delicate skin from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
Moisturizing and nourishing the skin regularly. The skin, especially the bottom layer, should be amply moisturized always.
Apply deep hydrating masks or use homemade facial masks containing herbal ingredients such as Solomon’s seal, glehnia root and rehmannia glutinosa.
Consider day cream or night cream with ingredients that have self-repairing properties like ginseng, pearl powder and caterpillar fungus.
Maintaining the balance of yin and yang. Avoid anything that could disturb the natural state of balance of the skin such as taking invasive beauty procedures, applying irritating skincare products, eating overly hot or cold food items.
Herbs such as chenpi, or sun-dried tangerine peel, white peony root, tree peony root bark and licorice root can help maintain the balance of yin and yang.
Here’s a recipe of an anti-ageing soup that can replenish blood and vital energy, facilitate natural bowel movement and promote skin elasticity.
It is delicious and nutritious and can be taken once or twice a week.
