Rat forces Kwun Tong restaurant to suspend business

A Kwun Tong restaurant has been forced to suspend business after photos of a rat on a table surfaced on social media.

The photos were uploaded to a Facebook page dedicated to Kwun Tong residents but without naming the restaurant, news website hk01.com reports.

Netizens arrived at the conclusion that the establishment in question is Gyujin Shabu Shabu and Sukiyaki Restaurant at the APM mall.

The restaurant later confirmed its identity in response to inquiries.

It said it has temporarily suspended its operations while anti-pest measures are taken.

Diners appeared to be unaware of the rodent at the next table. It was still and there was nothing on the table except a water bottle and a menu, according to the report.

Gyujin said pest-control measures have always been in place in the restaurant and that it has no idea how the rat got into the premises.

It said it would close on Sunday and Monday for a thorough disinfection.
