Two suspected child molesters were arrested in Tai Po and Tsuen Wan, police said.
One of those arrested is a 35-year-old engineer surnamed Hui, who tried to attract two six-year-old girls with his pet dog at Kwong Fuk Estate in Tai Po on Saturday night, Headline Daily reports.
The 33-year-old mother of one of the girls told police that her daughter and a neighbor, both 6, were playing at the park when their attention was caught by the suspect’s pet dog.
When they approached him to play with the dog, the man took the opportunity to fondle the two girls.
Fortunately, the mother saw what was happening and asked the help of neighbors to stop him. He was later handed over to the police.
Investigators were checking records to determine whether the suspect had been involved in similar cases before.
In Tsuen Wan, a 32-year-old man was arrested after he gave a four-year-old girl some stickers and asked her to sit on his lap, Apple Daily reported.
A passerby reported the suspect surnamed Wong to the police after realizing that he was not the father of the girl.
The man, who was later found suffering from a mild case of intellectual disability, was traced with the help of video clips from a surveillance camera and arrested on Friday.
Wong is said to have been a suspect in another case of sexual harassment before, although he was not convicted of the crime.
Meanwhile, police are still looking for a suspect in two separate child molestation cases in Ngau Tau Kok and Sau Mau Ping earlier this month.
The man, aged 25 to 35, is around 1.75 meters tall with short hair. He is said to have been involved in two other cases of sexual harassment.
