Big rush: Passenger jumps off bus via emergency exit

A commuter seems in such a big hurry that he got off a public bus by using the emergency door at the rear of the vehicle.

A photo of the man as he made his rather unusual exit was posted on a Facebook group account called “Discussion Board (Bus)”, sparking a big exchange of views online, Headline Daily reports.

It shows a man wearing a red jacket and jeans jumping off the emergency back door of a double-decker bus.

Sources said the man was apparently in a big hurry and could not wait for the bus, which was caught in a traffic jam, to reach the designated loading and unloading spot.

Many netizens did not approve of the man’s action, although some observed that he must really be “in a big rush” to do what he did.

One netizen said getting off the bus that way was quite dangerous because he could be hit by a passing vehicle, while another said he was endangering not just himself but others as well.

Asked about the incident, a spokesperson for the Kowloon Motor Bus said it is against the law for passengers to open the emergency door and use it as an exit without any justifiable reason.

Offenders could be fined HK$3,000 and jailed for up to six months, the spokesperson said.
