Two dead, two in hospital in Indian family suicide in Macau

Macau police are investigating why a family of four from India committed suicide in a luxury hotel.

Two family members died and two are in hospital with their condition unknown, Ming Pao Daily reports.

An employee at the Hotel Okura Macau, which is part of the Galaxy casino complex, went to their room at about 2 p.m. to see why they did not show up for checkout.

He used a spare key when no one answered the door and found the four victims inside.

Paramedics confirmed that the father, 52, and an elder son, 24 were dead. The 52-year-old mother and another son, 20, were alive. All are surnamed Lunawat.

The two were brought to Hospital Conde S. Januári unconscious.

Meanwhile, the bodies were removed, pending forensic examination.

Police officers found no sign of struggle and nothing suspicious in the room.

The victims left suicide notes in English and a quantity of an unknown drug was found nearby, according to Apple Daily.

Police listed the case as suicide and investigations are continuing.

They warned the public not to spread rumors or photos after some false information about the case was posted online, Macao Daily reported.
