Mainland burglars caught after failing to enter actor’s house

Four burglars were arrested after they tried to break into the Sai Kung home of Hong Kong actor Francis Ng.

The men, known as “Wei’s Clan” from Guangxi province, are aged 24, 30, 31 and 37, Headline Daily reports.

According to Apple Daily, the suspects were spotted by security guards as they tried to climb the wall of a house next to that of Ng.

Police arrested them in Hung Uk village and recovered a number of tools used in their trade.

Ng was on a movie shoot in the mainland when the incident took place.

Investigations led police to a house in Hung Uk village which the men had planned to use as a hideout.

Police also raided a hostel in Temple Street in Yau Ma Tei which the burglars had rented for HK$450 a day.

Meanwhile, Headline Daily reporters tracked down the family of one of the suspects, surnamed Han, in Donglan county.

A man claiming to be Han’s uncle said the latter lost his father at the age of five and worked on a construction site in Guangdong after training as a scaffolding workman.
