Police look for dozens involved in gang fight

Police are searching for dozens of men of South Asian origin after a fight in Sham Shui Po on Saturday night.

The men are suspected to be members of rival gangs who were out to settle an old score, Apple Daily reports.

A witness said a dozen men gathered at the Maple Street Playground at about 10 p.m. Saturday before a group of more than 40 came at them with golf clubs and glass bottles. The witness described the men as South Asian.

The smaller group fought back, with some throwing trolley carts at their attackers.

Six police cars and three ambulances arrived at the scene but most of the suspects had already left, news website hk01.com reports.

Police later found five injured men in Cheung Sha Wan Road and sent them to hospital. Another injured suspect was arrested in Lai Chi Kok Road.

The two gangs were also involved in a fight last week, police sources said.

The crime unit of Sham Shui Po Police Station is handling the case.
