A fleet of red double-decker buses will make their debut in Hong Kong in July, the Hong Kong Economic Journal reports.
The buses from the Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (KMB) are being assembled in Malaysia. The top will feature an electrocardiogram image of the Hong Kong skyline while the rest of the body will be in red.
The sides of the bus will have the KMB logo in silver and the seats in will be changed to an almond and coffee-colored theme.
There will be a USB charging socket onboard.
KMB created suspense by asking fans to guess the color of the newest additions to its fleet in a Facebook write-in contest on May 3.
The company revealed the brand-new look on Thursday with a Facebook live video featuring the “scholar bus driver” Gary Leung, hk01.com reports.
Leung had presented the design to the public via live video and many netizens praised it as “very retro”, resembling London’s signature red double-deckers.
He said that the new theme is “the pulse of Hong Kong”, with an electrocardiogram on the bus top to accentuate the idea.
The new buses are Euro V models and KMB said all new vehicles will be painted red.
