Another escalator accident reported at MTR Diamond Hill station

A 37-year-old woman sustained a foot injury after being hit by flying debris from a defective escalator at the MTR Diamond Hill station, hk01.com reports.

The accident took place at an escalator connecting Exit C2 of the station to Plaza Hollywood shopping center at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, when some of the steps of the escalator were damaged.

The escalator came to a halt and MTR staff called for an ambulance to take the injured woman to a hospital.

An MTR spokesperson said the contractor responsible for the maintenance of the escalators was immediately notified of the incident.

Initial inspection showed that two external objects, believed to be baby trolley wheels, got stuck in between the escalator steps, Apple Daily reported.

The rail operator said passengers traveling with baby trolleys should use the lift instead for the safety of everyone concerned.
