A young man has been arrested by the police after the car he was driving rammed into four road maintenance workers in Yuen long.
The suspect, a 21-year-old surnamed Mok, was charged with drink driving and later released on bail, pending further investigation, hk01.com reports.
The accident took place on Castle Peak Road near the Tai Tong Road Stop of the MTR’s Light Rail at about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday.
According to one of the victims, they were doing maintenance work on the rail tracks when a car came barreling towards them, knocking them down one after another.
The driver apparently ignored the cones and signs that had been put up to warn motorists.
Police officers arrived at the scene sent the four injured workers, aged 40 to 63, to Pok Oi Hospital.
One of them, aged 44, was later transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital with serious injuries, Apple Daily reported.
According to the police, the car stopped about 200 meters from the site of the accident but the driver was not injured.
The suspect was told to report to the police by mid-September.
