Celine Tam bows out of America’s Got Talent

Hong Kong singing sensation Celine Tam Tsz-kwan impressed some of the judges of America’s Got Talent but her best was simply not enough.

Tam, 9, was eliminated from the singing contest after the voting results of the semi-finals came in on Wednesday night, local time, Apple Daily reports.

Five of the 11 contestants advanced to the finals.

Tam sang How Far I’ll Go by Auli’i Cravalho in the semifinals on Tuesday night.

The song is from Disney’s animated film Moana released in 2016. It was nominated for Best Original Song at the 89th Academy Awards and the 74th Golden Globe Awards.

Although Tam won praises from judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel, her performance did not impress judge Mel B for a second time. Mel B is a former member of the group Spice Girls.

Viewers voting did not favor Tam, costing her a place in the finals. Her rival, 10-year-old Angelica Hale, who performed Without You, advanced to the finals.
