Toy capsules deployed to promote building safety awareness

The Buildings Department is deploying Gashapons, or toy capsules, to educate the public about building safety.

The Secretary for Development, Michael Wong Wai-lun, was awarded one after he passed the building safety quiz when he visited the Building Information Centre, according to his blog, but he did not reveal what was inside the capsule.

The Gashapon machine had an exhibition tour along with items, such as building safety board games and a cartoon character figurine, to promote building safety.

The Building Information Centre will move to the West Kowloon Government Offices in Yau Ma Tei when construction finishes by the end of this year.

Other Buildings Department offices now located in various buildings will be gathered in the same building as well.

The department has initiated an E-learning Centre and Online Building Safety Certificate Course to propagate safety knowledge. Among upcoming initiatives is an online symposium.
