Worker dies after collapsing atop oil storage tank in Tsing Yi

A man died after collapsing while at work on top a 20-meter-high oil storage tank in Tsing Yi.

A co-worker called the police after finding the 66-year-old man, who lived in Shenzhen, lying unconscious on top of the tank at the Caltex oil depot on Sai Tso Wan Road at around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Apple Daily reports.

Responding firemen brought him down to the ground before paramedics rushed him to Yan Chai Hospital in Tsuen Wan, where he was later pronounced dead.

Initial police investigation found nothing suspicious about the incident. The man is said to have a history of high blood pressure.

A spokesperson for Chevron Corporation, which runs Caltex, said the man was employed by a Caltex contractor, adding that his death was not due to an industrial accident.
