Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide involving a couple and one of their two daughters who were found dead inside their apartment in Castle Peak, Tuen Mun on Monday afternoon, the Hong Kong Economic Journal reports.
The father, a 60-year-old retiree, was scheduled to have dinner with some relatives to celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday, according to neighbors, but told them a day earlier that he could not attend without offering any reason.
As the family could not be contacted by phone, a relative went to their flat at the Sun Tuen Mun Centre on Lung Mun Road on Monday, but found the door was locked and no one was answering.
The relative called police at around 3 p.m., and responding police officers and firemen forced the door open.
The couple were found lying dead with multiple knife wounds to their bodies, while their daughter, 23, who is said to have just graduated from of a tertiary institution, was found with a plastic bag, connected to a bottle of helium, over her head.
A note recovered at the scene, apparently from the daughter, said she had been suffering from eczema, a skin condition, for many years and she would rather die than continue living.
Police suspected the daughter killed her parents before committing suicide.
