Amazon to open another cashier-less Go store in Seattle

Amazon is growing its cashier-less retail business with the planned addition of another Amazon Go convenience store this year.

The e-commerce giant will open a second Amazon Go store in its hometown of Seattle in the United States this fall, according to reports.

The new store will be located in the new Madison Centre office tower at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Marion Street in the city.

This upcoming Go store will be spread over an area of around 3,000 square feet, making it bigger than the firm’s existing checkout-free outlet which occupies 1,800 square feet.

The first Amazon Go store, opened earlier this year, counts on cameras and sensors to track what shoppers remove from the shelves, and what they put back.

Cash registers and checkout lines become superfluous – customers are billed after leaving the store using credit cards on file.
