Man, 19, arrested after Porsche smashes cafe in Sheung Wan

Police arrested a 19-year-old man after the luxury sports car he was driving crashed into a coffee shop in Sheung Wan.

The man was driving a Porsche 911 Carrera along Queen’s Road Central shortly before 4 a.m. on Thursday, when the luxury car apparently got out of control and smashed the front of a coffee shop at the corner of Wellington Street, the Hong Kong Economic Journal reports.

Police officers who arrived at the scene conducted a breathalyzer test on the man to assess the alcohol level in his system.

The test revealed that his alcohol level was almost three times the allowable limit, or 65 micrograms of alcohol per 100 milliliters of breath against the limit of 22 micrograms.

Police arrested the driver for drink-driving, but also sent him to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. No one else was injured.

The badly damaged café is reportedly owned by a couple who opened it more than a decade ago.
